Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapists help people across the lifespan participate in the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of everyday activities (occupations).  Occupational therapy services may include comprehensive evaluations of the client’s environment, recommendations for adaptive equipment and training in its use. Occupational therapy practitioners have a holistic perspective, focusing on adapting the environment to fit the person.   Sometimes occupational therapy uses specialized care for hand, wrist or elbow issues as well as doing assessments for fitting for wheelchairs or other special equipment to ensure proper set up for supported tasks or transport.  They may also look at energy conservation needs through the daily routine and safety in the home environment. Our occupational therapist has military training to establish the right plan of care for the upper extremity.
